First off we had some pretty amazing miracles this
week. While we were in the Beehive House, we had a family come in
that only had a few minutes, and they didn't have time for a full 20 min
tour/walking lesson. I had this very strong feeling that they needed to, so I offered a 5-10 min one. We went through the home at breakneck speed, but we
were sharing history and teaching the best we could by the Spirit. At the end,
she asked if she could take some reading materials with her, so we went back to
the front of the home to get it. She was visiting SLC because her stepdaughter
had just gotten married in the SLC temple. She said that she wanted to be able
to go to her stepdaughter's twin's wedding in the temple. As we explained that
you had to prepare to go there, and also the materials that we were giving her,
she started to get teary. She said that she had this great warm feeling that
she had never felt before. We testified that that was the Spirit of the Lord
testifying that what we were saying was true, and that it was of God. She
agreed. She also referred for missionaries and for us to start teaching her! So
we had a teaching appt with her yesterday!! But we didn't get to keep teaching
her because she had to go, we called a little late because we ran into Sister
Crookston's Dad.
Another miracle that we had in the Beehive House, on the same day actually, was precious. A man called in on the DESK phone at the Beehive House. He was calling to get information about visiting Temple Square. I talked with him more, turns out his name is Robert and used to meet with missionaries in his area, Seattle, Washington. He watched General Conference last week (a meeting that happens twice a year where we get to hear from the modern day prophets and leaders of the church to receive scripture for our day.) and he said that he felt like the prophet was speaking directly to him. I taught him, testified by the spirit, and invited him for baptism. He said that he wanted to, he had wanted to for a while, just was having a hard time coming up with the courage to leave his church and do it. And he said that he keeps feeling a draw to come to Temple Square, and that he wants to even get baptized while he's here! (I didn't get a chance to explain that it doesn't happen quite like that. :D) We taught him yesterday, and when we were preparing for the lesson, we felt like we needed to teach him the Plan of Salvation. (The lesson that talks about where we came from, why we're here, and where we're going) When we started teaching him about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how it encompasses not only our physical sins, but our weaknesses and heartaches, he started to cry. He said that it really spoke to him and what he needed right now. Apparently though he wants to join the church, he doesn't have the support of his wife. We promised him blessings and that we'd keep them in our prayers! If you will, I'd love for you to do the same!
Another note, Erica was...probably baptized this past
Saturday!! We haven't heard back yet, we've called and texted a bunch with no
response. So we'll keep you updated!
I have more exciting news!! So some of you have heard about
the March 15th Sounds of Music around the world concert that the Temple Square
mission was asked to put on. Well, one of the General Authorities attended and
he wanted us to put it on as a massive fireside for missionaries to come with
those they are teaching. He went to the 12 Apostles about it, and they asked us
to do it! So we'll be holding nearly the exact same concert (some participants
have gone home since then) on Monday, April 29th.
In other news, Sister Imai is going home tomorrow. She has
been so sick these past few weeks, so I'm happy for her that she'll be able to
get treatment to help her feel better and get some relief. She has been in so
much pain and she is such a trooper. I'm proud of her. Please keep her in her
prayers as well. Especially that she'll travel safely to Japan, she's flying
alone and we're worried about how that will go with her condition.
Love you all!
