Week #72

This week has been so so so crazy. Sister Crookston and I were just trying to remember everything that has happened this week. It seems like an eternity ago!

The saying in Temple Square goes that West and East zones are the hardest to be over. I'm starting to think it's true!! But it is gloriously worth it, and I'm so thankful that Heavenly Father trusts me to be up to the task. One of our sisters is really, really sick. Poor thing just feels awful! We've been going on a lot of exchanges and serving them which has been fun. I admire her for her courage and for doing as well as she has been. She has been sick for 4 weeks. But we arranged for her to get a priesthood blessing and I know that she'll be healed because that was one of the promises. It's been an adventure for sure. She can't handle showers, but hates greasy hair (she's asian) so we set up a little spa in her living room and washed it for her! (Her headache won't allow her to bend forward into a sink.) She laid on a bench and I used various towels, pots, bowls, and washclothes to clean it. It was fun!
We have also been busy with mission trainings and meetings. For the first time in my mission, I have a lot of zeros for my statistics! It was a surprise to realize that, but I'm also keeping in mind that I'm doing the Lord's work His way, and that doesn't necessarily mean that I get all the time I want right now to devote to teaching my investigators. Sister Crookston and I are thinking it'll get less crazy after conference and we're going to keep working our tails off! It was so encouraging when our mission president, President Gillette, went out of his way to thank us for the training that we've been doing for the mission. His wife also passed on how much he was impressed. He thanked us again today for being such great zone leaders, and that he's been working with some of our sisters and has seen and heard of the things we're doing for them. It was a tender mercy to know that someone besides the Lord was seeing our service, was thankful, and admired it.

I also have GREAT news!! Its about Erica! I met her on the desk last transfer with Sister Chang. We've taught her a few times, but it's been hard to keep real tabs on her because she doesn't respond to our texts and hasn't been able to answer our calls. I totally understand, she's a very busy girl and works very hard! I really admire her for who she is. And it was very tender to be able to get a hold of her because my prayers have been answered! I have been praying so hard for her missionaries to get there soon, (At times, we have a hard time getting local missionaries to their investigators to baptize them.) for her parents to have their hearts softened, feel peaceful, and accept her new path (they weren't), that she'll meet new friends, and that her testimony will be strengthened and that she'll grow to accept this gospel. I have been very impressed with the missionaries working with her!! They are amazing and doing such a good job; I count them as one of my blessings! 2. She told me her parents have a change of heart! 3. She has gotten really involved with the Young Single Adults (congregation of 18-30 year olds) and says that she's made tons of friends and loves the people! 4 She is getting baptized on APRIL 13TH!!! oh happy day! What a tender mercy.
I love you all. Please keep our ill Sister in your prayers. Happy Conference! Our Heavenly Father loves us enough to extend scripture to us again today! How lucky we are! And what an incredible privilege.

Love to you all,

Sister Lake

P.S. Thank you SO much for your letters, for your packages, and for your love. It means so much to me and has been a great support. I love you!  However, you do not neet to remind me to "finish strong" - I promise you that I will!!!
