How do I Develop Christ-like Attributes? Some thoughts from Sister Lake:

Faith in Jesus Christ: Enos 1:5-12, 15-17
Faith is the most personal reflection of adoration for—and devotion to—our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ… Faith, the spiritual ability to be persuaded of promises that are seen ‘afar off’ but that may not be attained in this life, is a sure measure of those who truly believe.”- Anne C. Pingree
Faith, in its full and pure form requires unshakable assurance and…absolute confidence that [God] will hear our pleas and grant our petitions in His own due time. Believing that we too can ‘stand fast in the faith’ today and tomorrow.” –Elder Bruce R. McConkie
Hope: Genesis 22:2-13
The stronger our hope, the purer our charity. The things we hope for lead us to faith while what we hope in lead us to charity. Hope in God, His goodness, and His power refreshes us with courage during difficult challenges.” –Pres. Dieter F. Utchdorf
Charity &Love:  1 Samuel 20:1-17
The reason charity never fail and the reason charity is greater than even the most significant acts of goodness is that charity, the pure love of Christ is not an act but a condition or state of being. Charity is attained through a succession of acts that result in conversion.”  –Elder Dallin H. Oaks
Virtue: Ruth 1:15-19; 2:2, 7-11; 3:10-11
If every action is preceded by a thought, then every consecrated missionary must first have a clean and consecrated mind…I know you are trying to garnish your thoughts and virtue unceasingly. I commend you for this and encourage you in this noble pursuit. The consequences will be monumental in your life. As a missionary you will have confidence that the Lord will hear and answer your prayers.”-Elder Tad R. Callister
Knowledge: 1 Kings 3:3,5-14; 4: 29-31, 34
True doctrine, understood, changes attitudes and behavior. The study of the doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than a study of behavior will improve behavior.”                                   Pres. Boyd K. Packer
Patience: Mormon 8:1-9, Moroni 1:1-4
“Patience is a godly attribute that can heal souls, unlock treasure of knowledge and understanding, and transform ordinary men and women into saints and angles. Patience is truly a fruit of the Spirit…Patience means staying with something until the end. It means delaying immediate gratification for future blessings…Patience means accepting that which cannot be changed and facing it with courage, grace, and faith…Patience is a process of perfections…to abide in faith, knowing that sometimes it is in the waiting rather than in the receiving that we grow the most.” –Pres. Dieter F. Utchdorf
Humility: 1 Nephi 18:9-16
“Humility is a fertile soil where spirituality grows and produces the fruit of inspiration to know what to do.” –Elder Richard G. Scott
Diligence: Mosiah 11:20, 28; 12:1; Alma 8: 8-10, 15-18;  Helaman 12:2-5
Jesus’ call ‘Come follow me’ is not only for those prepared to compete in a spiritual Olympics. In fact, discipleship is not a competition at all but an invitation to all. Our journey of discipleship is not a dash around the track, nor is it fully comparable to a lengthy marathon. In truth, it is a lifelong migration toward a more celestial world.” –Elder Neil L. Anderson
Obedience: Alma 56:45-48; Alma 57:21-22
Until willingness overflows obligation, men fight as conscripts rather than following the flag as patriots. Duty is never worthily performed until it is performed by one who would gladly do more if only he could.” – Harry Emerson Fosdick
 This week will you…
·         Pray to know which characteristic you need to focus on this week. And complete the following questions in your journal.

-          How can I develop this attribute?
-          What must change in my heart, mind and actions to develop this attribute?
-          How will keeping covenants help me develop this attribute?
-          How will developing this attribute help me qualify for the Holy Spirit and become a more powerful minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ?
-          How will my learning this attribute help my investigators? What can I do to help them in this process?
·         Tell one person your thoughts and your plan.
I can promise you that you will bless [others] to help them recognize the spiritual gifts with which they were born. Every person is different and has a different contribution to make. No one is destine to fail.” –Pres. Henry B. Eyring
