Week #22

Aloha all!

First off, the most important news, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MY SWEET BROTHER ELI!!!!

Well, I was all great and prepared and had written down a list of things to talk about. Unfortunately, I forgot it at home when we went back to our apartment. So...that stinks. On a different note, I'm really going to hope that I can remember parts of it. And it's not going to be as long this week because the Family History Senior Missionaries are WONDERFUL, but there's one sister missionary that is a Nazi, and we are not going to have very long. :)

Things have been better this week. The last few weeks have been difficult on many different levels. But hey, I didn't accept my call to have a tea party. Let it rain, and let it pour! As long as I have the Lord on my side, it does not matter what I am called to encounter. (Alma 26:12)

Our investigators are having a tough time, and a wonderful time. I'm just going to go through some of them because I don't have time to update all.

Jenn & Tony (member referral Cody Cunningham)- Tony went home for a bit and we invited them to go to church tomorrow! They have been missing all of our appointments lately and haven't returned our calls or texts, but it sounds like Jenn has been sick. It's frustrating because your hopes are high at the beginning of each call and go lower and lower with each ring, with your heart jumping at any sound that your companion makes on the other end of the conference call. But oh the joy when they do answer! It makes it all the more precious and sweet and helps me remember how vital and precious each encounter is with our investigators. We're calling both of them together (they've been living apart for work) on Monday! Keep them in your prayers.

Aldrin (chat)- His baptism date is today....but we haven't heard anything from him in the past two weeks. We hope that all is well, you better bet we've been praying like crazy.

Farina (inbound call)- She is one of the sweetest investigators we have. She is very attached to me and it makes me feel like a million bucks. Unfortunately, she is having some serious health issues right now. They are running tests to see if she has cancer. She has asked us to pray for her.

Darlene(inbound call) haven't heard back from her. But I bought a large print Book of Mormon for her because she can't read the small print. I mailed it to her earlier this week.

Laura (member referral)- We got a very sweet text from her earlier this week. I bought her tons of pictures, of the Savior, the temples, various scenes from scritpures and a CTR ring to help motivate and remind her to stop smoking. We got some cinnamon candies because we heard that cinnamon makes it taste gross. She wrote us saying that she got our other package and wears her ring proud.

Jesse (inbound call) we have been praying like crazy for him to get trials that will make him come closer to God and have a desire to read the Book of Mormon. Apparently we have the first part, things have been tough..but we haven't gotten to the second part yet. I'm worried because you just love them so much, and you want what's best for them but they have their choices. And if he doens't progress we'll have to cut him. He said he'll go to church this week. prayers!

On TS exciting note, we had to call security twice in the past three days. A crazy guy came and while I was trying to help him was saying that I was a liar, that the church was the church of the devil and that we were all liars. The spirit was pressing me alot, I felt extremely uncomfrotable (thank goodness for those warnings) I called security and while they were coming I kept him busy by talking. He says that he talks to devils and that he knows their ways. creeeeeepyyyy. the other was harmless. It was a man from Ukraine. I waved to be friendly as we walked by and he came back later and started recording us. That is a big no-no.  Any time someone takes our picture wihtout permission or records we are to immediately call security. So poor guy barely spoke any english and I tried to explain to him why we needed him to stop and he got flustered because there are three guards there figuring out what's going on.

And funny story. A new investigator was telling us about how her mother as part of her will, bought a burial plot for each of her children. I didn't know what to say..so I said, "well....it's good to plan ahead!" I just hope she didn't hear my comp snorting in laughter. :D And yes, I had another person serenade me. This time it was my investiagator at the end of a lesson.

I know that the church is true! I know the Lord loves us!

Love Sister Lake

P.S. For zone activity we watch How to Train your dragon. It was so fun! And it was fun to remember what it was like ride horses vicariously. (I feel the same way when I'm riding as is protrayed in the movie.) Unfortunately I didn't get my "wings" on in time for the picture. It's best to familiarize yourself with the faces, some of these women are going to be my life-long friends. Especially the one I have my arms around in the second picture with the blue shirt. That is Sister Crookston, and we were together in the MTC. We are BEST friends and I love her dearly.
