Aloha!!!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
I GOT TO RUN ON A TRACK!
Did I mention we went running on the track today? Oh my heavens, it
was GLORIOUS! I always knew that God was good! :D I did a hard workout
of 800's and 400's. two of each. And then an extra 300 because I didn't
have time for a full 400, we were leaving. I was a little disappointed
in my times, but that's the mission! Considering I have been running in
the hallway/garage for the past 6 months I guess I can only expect so
much, You only can run so much a day. 800's were 3:02 and 3:05
respectively. 400's were 1:29 and 1:27. And then last 300 was about 53
seconds, which is about 1:08 for a 400. It hurt so bad! And felt so
amazingly good. I have missed the track. I actually dreamed about it all
night because I was so excited. Now I'll just have to wait to get rid
of these devil's basketball shorts to trade for XC shorts and I'll be in
heaven! (I won't miss the chafing. blech.)
Guess what! My 6 month mark is on Wednesday. Enough of that. That's weird, I don't think I really like it all that much.
So many exciting news. First off, it was so wonderful to be able to
hear my family's voice. I was a little sad that I couldn't have more
time with them, 40 mins just goes by so fast. And I was thinking about
how I wished I could have talked to Hillary as well, and I remembered
that I had gotten to see her in about Marchish when Gma and Gpa came and
"kidnapped" me from Temple Square for lunch. I thanked my Heavenly
Father that He had the foresight to know I wouldn't be able to talk to
her on Mother's day and that I got an even better package. I got to hug
and give her kisses in person!! I consider it another manifestation of
the multitude of His tender mercies. (and it was REALLy weird that
everyone was calling me by my first name. I kept thinking, "who are they
talking about? Oh.Wait. Yeah.)
I can now update you more on what's been happening this transfer.
First off, we are now doing indexing as a mission! First thing I heard
that was "Oh man, Mom's going to love this." We will have assigned hours
pending on the seasons and later in the slower seasons we'll have more.
I'm hoping I'll be pro when I get home! I actually just got done doing
it, I was always intimidated by it and it's actually fun! Y'all should
do it!!
The busy season is coming! We're on our feet, workin' hard and it's
AWESOME! I love my mission! Sisters say I'm a superhuman or that I have
extra bones in my body, but really it's just that I love being a
missionary so much, I can't hold still! :) It's mostly a
good thing. haha. With that, that means that we have alot of
crazies/antimormons. The other day, my companion said "I feel like I
meet more anitmormons with you." I just burst into laughter because each
of my comps have said the same thing. I don't know why, I just seem to
attract them. Which brings me to my next comment, Thank you to all that send me letters.
Truly, you help feed my spirit so much. I can't tell you how many times
I have been struggling to feel the spirit after talking to someone so
satanic and against the ways of the Lord, and then I get a reminder of
how someone else in the outside world still loves me in my mailbox. It
has gotten to the point where after we have an encounter such as that I
say to myself, "Well, I'm definitely going to get a letter today! That
one deserves it!" And sure enough, I find one. You have been the answers
to my prayers, and to that I thank you.
I also have a funny story that happened first day of the transfer. I
was asked to be cell phone coordinator with my comp and that means
we're in charge of the phones in the mission. We had alot of problems
and so we talked to the phone service alot. We got to know our rep, L.A.
pretty well. (That's his name. :D) In one of the breaks where we were
waiting for information, I asked him, "So, L.A. What do you know about
mormons?" My comp looked at me with huge eyeballs communicating, "WHAT
are you doing?!" (you have to remember we've only been compts for about 2
hours) It was pretty funny. It was a short conversation, but in the end
we gave him our number (he took it down!) and said we'd be happy to
answer his questions. The next time we called a few weeks later we had
to call again. Guess who it was? You bet, L.A.! I entertained him with
my horrible jokes from elementary days and my younger siblings.
Hopefully this will grow into a beautiful thing!
And now, for SPLENDIFOROUS news......HARRIET IS GETTING BAPTIZED!!!
Harriet is Brian's (one of "my" other baptisms) and we have been
teaching her. The missionaries there are awesome! I was so happy that
they pulled through and they're doing a great job. There is nothing more
frustrating than when your investigator is telling you they want to be
baptized, and they want to meet missionaires and they don't come.
UGH! (Sidenote: Please pray that Mario's will come soon. He is the most
forthright, been to chruch 3 x's and for some reason hasn't found
them. And we're waaiiiiittttiiinnnggg) Sorry for tangent. But Harriet is
getting baptized on June 2! Karis' birthday! A wonderful day on many
levels. :D
Please pray for Josh. He is the contact I had on chat in the MTC,
(November) and we haven't given up! He just turned 14 last month and he
wants to meet with missionaries and be baptized, but he's worried about
how his family will treat him. We know that he needs this and man I love
that kid! We had a heart to heart and his homework is to pray to ask
God to help him have courage and to talk to his parents. He is such a
great kid. Also...I am wondering if my little siblings would become his
friends on Facebook? Apparently he doesn't have LDS friends, just his
cousins in New Mexico. (He's in Arkansas) And we were praying to know
what else we can do to help him progress. I was specifically thinking
Jameson because of the age and interests.(Very intelligent and he's a
runner!....No wonder he's so great. :D)
Also, we need more help on Jenn. She is the referral from Cody
Cunnigham. Things have been going great with her husband, but we feel
like she's losing steam with her illness she's had lately. Please pray
that a miracle will happen so that they may meet with missionaries this
month. We have been teaching for months and things keep coming up so
that they don't meet. We talked to her husband, Tony, and he said it'll
be at least 6 weeks if it happens at all. We need some miracles. We have been fasting and praying, and I ask you to help in any way you can.
Oh! cool story. I met someone from our Val Vista Ward in Mesa! We
struck up a conversation, and per request I mustered up bits of my 2nd
grade address and turns out my family bought the house from her best
friends' family! Her name is Alva, and she left to her mission from that
ward to Idaho. Her parents are Dwight and Heidi Morris. Pretty cool!
She remembered our family and may have been my primary teacher for a bit
before we moved! Crazy! Always be nice to everyone, 1. because you
never know when you'll see them again and 2. Because that is what our
Savior would do!!
I love ya'll. I was thinking yesterday and recounting to Mom about
how specific events have affected my life. I was wearing a skirt that I
made when I was 14 for YW's the other day and I was thinking how I had
no idea I would serve a mission at that point, and yet here I was. Or
how my Mom bought my PMG for me for me to use at EFY. Again, here I was.
I am so grateful for my Mother, and for those that have Mothered me
whether they are my Aunts or not blood related, that they have helped me
in so many ways to be the servant I am today. Any time we bring people
unto Christ, we are doing missionary work. Thank you for helping me with
those steps.
Love Always and Forever,
Sister Eden Marie
