My First Marathon!!

I did it!!! I can now cross off "run a marathon" off my bucket list. It was such a wonderful experience, and now I know a little more about how to prepare...like training. No, I did not train like I should have. I did train for a marathon that I was planning on running earlier this year, but when I got hired for a job the day before, I had to go to training on that morning instead of running my race. SO SAD!! For this race, I didn't really put in the mileage I should have, because I was injured and was and I felt it in parts of the race. (Or maybe I was just tuckered out...more experience will tell.) I was so grateful for the Cunninghams for helping make it happen by allowing me to stay with them and for my Mom for driving me all the way out there and to both parties for all of the support. I got 3rd in my age group and I think 16th overall or something with the time of 3:54. My goal for the race was 3:30 and I was on pace until about mile 15, and that was when expected things started happening. One of which was that I got a blister the size of Texas on my foot.

Yep. I got that sucker at mile 8. I thought I had a pebble in my shoe and stopped to take it out and realized that it was a little blister. Knowing that there was no way I could remedy it I put my sock back on and kept going. Then I had this smiling face looking at me when I stopped to look at it at mile 15. I also haven't had back pain that bad in for probably two years, so I wasn't expecting that one either so it was a fun one for the race.
Smiling an orange smile for the camera.

Cali and I excited to be running.
My wonderfully fantastic mother whom I love dearly.
We DID IT!!! Cindy with a fabulous 5k, Cali with a fantastic half, and me with my happy marathon. What a fun race.

Excited for more races in the future!!!
