My Little Big Sister!!!!!

As some know, Little Lake aka "Puddle" #2 is leaving for college at BYU Provo tomorrow. Hillary, my "little" 5'12'' sister. For those that don't know her, or those that do and just need to be reminded, Hillary is a gem. I love her so much! She is one of my bestest friends, as it should be. We have been together growing up ever seen she graced us by coming down from heaven. It was hard for me to leave for college last year, because it meant that we would be opening a chapter in our lives where we would not have constant companionship, and the longest time that we previously had ever been apart was two weeks!! I have missed her, and will continue to miss her, because phone calls just don't seem to give you the full Hillary experience.

Hillary is many things, and one of which is SARCASTIC!!!! There is never a time when it turns off, you can ALWAYS expect it. She has a strong sense of priorities. When growing up, she was a homebody by choice, whereas I apted for the stronger social life. After growing up some, I realized that she, not I, had actually chosen the better part, and tried to be more like her. Hillary is also a helper and a peacemaker. She helps around the house ALL the time, and as a result, my Mom has commented that she doesn't know how she is going to survive without her when she's at college. Hillary is someone that will sacrifice of herself to avoid contention: a peacemaker. She is constantly stepping in any squabble whether they be big or small to find a solution and keep the peace. In a family of 8, that makes her invaluable!!! Hillary is also very spiritual. She studies her scriptures, not just reads them. And as a result the Lord has blessed her for her diligence.

When Hillary is given a job, she does the best she can at it. It applies to all areas of her life, but one most present on my mind is her participation in the CVHS Marching Band. I am so proud of her, and have seen how much this activity has formed her to the leader and inspiration she is today. She has been given an assortment of awards, some from the school, and one that is a National Award, and an incredible honor. As a result of how hard she worked, those around her depended on her and loved her all the more for the leader and friend she was to them. When she graduated I was taking pictures of her and her friends and a mob of band students rushed in for the picture with her, and more besides from the windows of the bus. There was even one hanging upside down from a bus window so that he could be in one with her!!!

Hillary is my partner in crime, my other half, a best friend. I love all my sisters and brothers, and we all compliment each other in different ways. Hillary hates mushrooms, clams, and doesn't really enjoy meat. I am a carnivore and mushroom lover! (and the rest of my family) I hate White Chili, Tomato Soup, and Ham Soup, which Hillary does like. (and the rest of my family. :D) I enjoy having time in the spotlight, whereas Hillary more enjoys celebrating other's achievements. One of the most stark differences is our sense of humor. Everyone laughs with her, because they get their jokes. A joke in our family is that I can't ever seem to get the knack at making everyone laugh by remarks, so when I do make a really good joke and people actually laugh, it's a gold nugget in time!!! However, Hillary AlWAYS gets my jokes, and then usually explains them to the others in a way that others think is funny. It may lose effect in the process...but, well, that's the way it is!! And I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have so many memories that I have from Hillary. But a constant theme that runs through them is our "talks." We stay up late more often than not (Mom, you didn't read that.) just talking. Sometimes it's spiritual, how our days went, what we're worrying about, and sometimes it's about something so crazy that an outsider would go, "huh?" It's pretty swell that Hillary puts up with me, because she understands me through and through. And, as far as I know, I'm the best at finishing her sentences and the only person that can answer what she's going to ask before she says it out loud on a regular basis.

I love my 5'12'' Little Big Sister. I am so blessed and ecstatic that I am sealed to her, and will be her sister forever.

I love you Hillary.

Love forever and always,
Eden
